Anthony’s Ghost

Like the charcoal rose that chases your arm,

You beautifully pierce with translucent thorns.

Under a golden sun with rays as charms

We burned with bewitchment and passion was born,

Only for a moment the moonlight mourned

Because your affection became a ghost.

Tell me, Anthony, why you left me torn

In a moonlit day where you haunt the most,

Burgundy spirit, gliding through a coast

Caressed by an ocean of stars, my heart

Only hopes your vanishing was the host

For your imminent return. To depart

To heaven is to adore another.

Let limbo hold you so cold and smothered.

When she's not working with words, she spends time painting, which grounds her in calm and color. Her work has appeared in Mental Health Vol. 3, compiled by Robin Barratt. She holds a Minor in Creative Writing from Auburn University and has been refining her craft for the past decade.
