Hardship Submissions
We accept hardship submissions to our newsletter, magazines, and anthologies. If you are unable to afford the submission fee for any reason, for example: you are experiencing homelessness, incarceration, job insecurity, currently residing in a rehabilitation center, experiencing unemployment or financial stress, have a disability that makes it difficult to navigate a submission portal, or if you are encountering any other life circumstance that prevents you from making an electronic submission through our online submission portals, you may submit your work by e-mail.
To submit by e-mail: Attach your submission as a word document. Title your e-mail with the category you are submitting to and your name. For example: EMMA GREY ROSE [POETRY SUBMISSION]
Include a brief, 3rd person bio that is under 100 words in length. Cover letters are not required.
Send your submission by e-mail to: editor@midsummerdreamhouse.com
Please note: Due to the volume of submissions we receive on a regular basis, we do not send rejection letters to hardship submissions, we will only respond if we are interested in publishing. If you have not heard back for six months or more, please consider sending in a new submission.
If your work is accepted for publication, we require a publishing contract to be signed within 30 days after acceptance. We will send this contract to you via e-mail.
Please do not submit the same submission twice and only submit once per open reading period.
You do not need to explain your hardship. We will not ask you, either.
